Spring walk

From my back door I regularly take a circular walk of about 1.5km – lanes, fields, woods, a small river. ‘Spring Walk’ is a landscape collage of sounds recorded usually on the move. The walk takes 40 minutes or more, depending on diversions; I’ve distilled the sounds down to about 8 minutes. This piece included in the ‘SOUNDS OF MY NEIGHBOURHOOD’ project organised by composer Hans W Koch for the MusikTriennale Cologne.

Snow

Three linked pieces (snow, thaw, dawn earthwork) were created with raw material from three recording periods of three hours each on three days in the same location: a) in near blizzard conditions, b) during rapid thaw, c) on first morning after thaw.

snow and thaw were included in recent edition of Framework – rich and varied sounds, broad- and podcast here.
